The Committee on the Environment and Climate Change has already approved about 40 definitions contained in Article 9 of the four Water Law projects, which is 80% complete.

August 21.The Environment and Climate Change Committee approved, in this afternoon's working session, an approximation of 40 definitions contained in Art. 9 of the four Water Law projects, with which there is an advance of 80%.
Once again, the business sector has spoken out to deny assertions made by representatives of the Salvadoran government, who stated that if the Water Law is approved in its entirety, companies would privatize management of the water resource.
The accusations against the private sector arose following deputies approval of five articles of the bill, which aims to establish a National Water Authority (ANA), of which representatives of private companies would form a part.
On November 7th and 8th industrial entrepreneurs will be meeting in San Salvador to discuss issues related to best practices in the use of water resources.
The Water Industry event El Salvador 2017 will be held in San Salvador and will address issues such as improvements in water quality, efficiency and sustainability in Salvadoran industry.
The bill presented by the opposition in the Assembly contemplates creating an institution that has full authority to manage water resources, from granting permits to defining rates for its use.
The bill introduced by representatives of ARENA, GANA, PCN and PDC proposes creating an autonomous "water authority", which would be attached to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources and above the ANDA.
The national plan for restoration and reforestation will allocate $23.5 million to restoration activities in mangroves and wetlands, zones for water recharging and renewal of coffee and cocoa plantations.

The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources in El Salvador is putting out to tender the construction of a National Plan for Integrated Water Resources Management.
The aim of the procedure is the preparation, according to guidelines issued by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, of a Management Plan for Nationally Integrated Water Resources (PNGIRH by its initialsin Spanish) with an emphasis on priority areas.
