The government has announced that in the next three months it will allocate $3.5 million to the purchase and rental of equipment for pumping and supply trucks and for drilling new wells.

The government of the republic has decreed through the National Administration of Aqueducts and Sewers (ANDA) a situation of national emergency to deal with the water shortage affecting the country due to the effects of climate change.
"It is unacceptable that in a country with enviable economic growth and being the fifth country in the world with the most rainfall" there is no secured access to clean water for its inhabitants.

The State's Water Management Authority is inviting bids for a project to improve the drinking water system.
The tender is for construction of a storage tank of 1.000 cubic meters and the installation of a distribution ring in the Municipality of Texistepeque, Department of Santa Ana.
The target date for submission of offers is March 15, 2011.
The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARN) will develop two water management projects in 2011.
During the presentation of objectives for 2011, MARN detailed the creation of a "Water Fund" of $ 79 million, through an agreement with the Spanish Agency for Development Cooperation (AECI) and the Technical Department of the Presidency of El Salvador .
