Excel Automotriz opened a new service center of 2 thousand square meters, at kilometer 126.5 of the highway to the Atlantic in Rio Hondo, Zacapa.
Company executives informed that in the new service center there will be maintenance and repair of vehicles, and also sell different types of spare parts.
In Guatemala, Cofiño Stahl opened a new service center in Alta Verapaz, at kilometer 214 of the road from Cobán to San Pedro Carchá.
The new enclosure will have the services of alignment, balancing and 4 bays for the support of the maintenance of the automobiles, one of express service, in which the service will be provided by means of appointment programming.
Honda invested $8 million in the construction of its new service center, which has a 14,000 square meter area and is located in Zone 10 of the capital.
The Honda Center is a five-story, two-basement building in which the company has areas for salesrooms, parking spaces and vehicle repair shops.
The service sector closed 2011 with $397.3 million, 20% more than in 2010, according to the Guatemalan Association of Exporters.
The Contact Center industry accounted for 49% of the growth, equivalent to $194.4 million.
The Commission on Contact Centers & BPO’s at Agexport, has estimated growth for next year of nearly 20%.
"This sector has been one of the most dynamic in the service sector and its huge impact on mass employment generation makes up nearly 50% of the total export value. This confirms that promoting this industry gives a significant enhancement to the contribution given to Guatemalan people in terms of employment and boosts the economy", said the Chairman of the Commission on Contact Centers & BPO’s, Germain Lopez
By the end of 2011, the call center industry will have created 5,000 new jobs making a total workforce of 27,000 people.
With respect to service exports, the expectations are for more than $ 194 million,
The sector, which continues to experience strong demand, has developed a strategy with targets for 2015, said the coordinator of the Committee on Contact Centers and BPO’s at Agexport, Guisela Flores Guzman.
The company is planning the opening of fifteen new customer service points in the country.
Among openings planned for December is the recent opening of the Zentro Plaza agency. It is the largest and most modern in Guatemala, with 900 square meters on two levels.
