On August 24th and 25th companies and public institutions will meet to discuss issues such as standards and quality management, as well as taking part in a business roundtables for the industrial sector.

Guatemala April 20, 2016. -AGEXPORT-, Ministry of Economy, The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, The Ministry of Finance, and Universidad del Valle, are some of the 18 public, private and academic institutions of the Organizing Committee of the XI Congress on Quality, which seeks to strengthen the culture of quality in Guatemala on issues of quality management, enabling agency and multi-sectoral work to productively contribute to growth and development.
The event will be held on August 25th and 26th in Guatemala City and will deal with issues related to quality systems and accessing markets with GlobalGAP certifications.

Managing occupational risks, voluntary agreements for improving the environmental services, and best practices for reducing costs, are some of the central issues which will be addressed at the 2014 International Congress on Quality.
The Ministry of Health in Panama is putting out to tender the deployment and implementation of an ISO 9001 Quality Management System in all health facilities.

Small hoteliers in Honduras are working on developing a manual which aims to improve the quality of service provided in the sector.
Nicole Marder, a hotel owner affiliated with the Small Hotels Association of Honduras (Hopeh), explained that "there have been studies to determin what are the things that are needed, what can be improved and everything to do with training for small hotels to bring them up to the standards required by the manual ".
On 25 and 26 September at the Grand Tikal Futura Hotel the 9th national and 3rd Central American Congress on Quality will take place.
Organized by the Ministry of Economics, Universidad del Valle de Guatemala and the Directorate of National Quality System (Incotec) and various business groups, the meeting will be held under the motto "Continuous improvement, strategy for competitiveness."
A standard for quality indicators in cold chains describes the quality management system of an organization that wants to demonstrate its ability to continuously supply high quality cold chain services.
CCQI, the Cold Chain Quality Indicator, is a benchmarking system that accesses the logistics capacity of a cold chain in order to maintain a certain temperature during transportation and handling of perishable temperature sensitive products (PTSP).
The implementation of a quality system should begin with a review of company operations for comparison with the model suggested by ISO 9001:2000.
Following the adoption of a quality management system (QMS) a reliable and effective team will have to be formed to analyze the company’s management and establish the activities to be carried out according to the QMS selected.
A regional program will support the quality and application of sanitary and phytosanitary measures.
In order to improve access for Central American products to markets the creation of a standardized and internationally recognized Regional System for Quality and Application of SPS Measures has been proposed.

The Ministry of Economy has launched a National Quality Policy which aims to turn El Salvador into a more competitive country.

Economy Minister Hector Dada Hirezi launched this December 13 the National Quality Policy, the aim of which is not only to make a difference by turning El Salvador into a more competitive country, but also one where consumers get higher levels of respect in relation to the supply of goods and services.
Equipment donated by the European Union will enable the laboratory to be updated in order to provide metrology services adhering to international standards.
The donation to the National Metrology Center (Cenamo) includes laboratory equipment for use with fine and coarse masses, volume and flow, temperature measurement, pressure, force, power, density and viscosity, dimensional, longitudinal, time and frequency, and reference materials.
In light of grain from China entering the international coffee market, Honduran producers are betting on quality.
The national chief of Ihcafe’s Extensión Cafetalera, Francisco Castillo, said that "the most powerful strategy is to maintain coffee quality standards."
