Security: $300 Million for Public Infrastructure

CABEI granted a loan to Guatemala to finance the construction and equipping of buildings to be used by the Ministry of the Interior, National Police stations, prisons and other projects.
The $300 million will support the "Investment and Modernization Program for the Justice Sector", which will be implemented by the Guatemalan Ministry of Government, reported the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI).

The Guatemalan government endorsed the modernization of La Aurora International Airport, which costs about $117 million, through a public-private partnership.
After the consulting firm Deloitte Tetra Tech was hired to prepare feasibility studies, with the aim of establishing contract models that could be applied to modernize the Guatemalan air terminal, it was recommended that a public-private partnership (PPP) is the most efficient way.

"The modules must have the characteristics of a temporary structure (100% dismountable and technically verifiable) allowing its complete assembly and disassembly. The components of the module (foundation/fixation bases, platform, vertical enclosures and roof) will form a single monolithic unit, with seismic-resistant characteristics, resistance to humidity and winds, will provide thermal comfort and will meet or exceed the requirements of the school quality standards approved by the Ministry.

With financing from CABEI, the Guatemalan state university will finance several construction works, expansion and remodeling of its facilities.
The resources will be allocated for the development of pre-investment, construction, expansion and remodeling of university centers, colleges, among other units benefiting from the program, as well as the provision of machinery, furniture and equipment with state-of-the-art technology, explained the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) in a statement.

The Guatemalan Social Security Institute announced that it plans to invest $390 million in the construction of eight hospitals in different areas of the country.
Representatives of the Guatemalan Social Security Institute (IGSS) informed that the investments will be financed with their own funds and the new hospitals will be in the departments of Zacapa, Jutiapa, Petén, Escuintla, Quetzaltenango and Guatemala.

The Government of Guatemala announced that it expects to invest next year in Line 7 of the Transmetro system, which will have a total fleet of 35 buses and 32 stations.
The Direction of Urban Mobility of the Guatemalan Government presented a $28 million estimate for the project to implement the Transmetro route that will cover from the Mariano Galvez University in zone 2 to the University of San Carlos in zone 12, which will cross the Peripherical.

The process to build an Administrative Center for the State of Guatemala is still making progress, but now an cultural and commercial alternative to the complex of public offices has been suggested.
In 2015, the National Agency of Partnerships for the Development of Economic Infrastructure (ANADIE), proposed the construction of the State Administrative Center (CAE by its initials in Spanish) on land belonging to Ferrocarriles de Guatemala located in Zone 1 of the capital of the country.
