Security: $300 Million for Public Infrastructure

CABEI granted a loan to Guatemala to finance the construction and equipping of buildings to be used by the Ministry of the Interior, National Police stations, prisons and other projects.
The $300 million will support the "Investment and Modernization Program for the Justice Sector", which will be implemented by the Guatemalan Ministry of Government, reported the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI).

The Special Commission on Infrastructure of the Costa Rican Assembly endorsed the bill that seeks to regulate the schemes for the development of public-private partnership projects.
The initiative, which has yet to go beyond the debate in the Legislative Plenary, establishes the processes and modalities for promoting private investment for the development of public infrastructure, public services and services related to these, applied research projects and/or technological innovation.

China to Announce Projects in El Salvador

The construction of a stadium and the national library, as well as the development of infrastructure in tourist areas, are some of the projects that would be financed by the Asian giant in El Salvador, as part of its non-reimbursable cooperation programs.
As part of the non-refundable assistance, China will support the construction of six projects, including a new National Library, a national stadium and a Surf City project, in order to promote joint development and increase the well-being of both peoples, the Chinese Embassy in El Salvador announced on December 3.
$300 Million in Loan Approved

Honduras approved a loan agreement with Taiwan's Export-Import Bank, which will be used in part to strengthen health and education infrastructure.
The credit at the international level was approved through Executive Agreement 499-2019, which contemplates in its recitals that it will serve for budgetary support "aimed at addressing priority issues of national interest aimed at economic reactivation."

The Guatemalan government endorsed the modernization of La Aurora International Airport, which costs about $117 million, through a public-private partnership.
After the consulting firm Deloitte Tetra Tech was hired to prepare feasibility studies, with the aim of establishing contract models that could be applied to modernize the Guatemalan air terminal, it was recommended that a public-private partnership (PPP) is the most efficient way.

The Ministry of Education plans to demolish and build the new facilities of an educational center that is in the village of Aligandi, Kuna Yala County.
The Environmental Impact Study (EIA) to develop the project called "Design, development of plans and construction of the new facilities of the Cacique Olodebiniginya Institute, community of Ustupu, corregimiento of Ailigandi comarca Kuna Yala", was presented by the Ministry of Education in the first quarter of the year.
