From September 24, the Chamber of Industry of Guatemala will begin to offer a training workshop on the updating of the Incoterms trade rules, which will apply from January 2020.
The Incoterms are the rules of sale of goods, which offer security and clarity in trade, for companies and users around the world. They were created by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
Central American exports destined for the EU in the first quarter of 2014 totaled $1,021,600,000, down 10.5% compared to the same period in 2013.

Part IV of the Association Agreement between Central America and the European Union (EU-CA) took effect for each of the Republics of the Central American side in 2013.
The Federation of Chambers and Industry Associations of Central America and the Dominican Republic are demanding that governments provide efficient management and eliminate obstacles to the movement of goods.
At the last meeting held in Panama the Chambers of Industry urged their governments to have greater efficiency in customs procedures for trade in goods in Latin America.
The "Incoterms", or International Commerce Terms, were modified to better reflect modern practices and avoid ambiguity.
The amendments were announced yesterday in Guatemala by the International Chamber of Commerce, who said that these changes “make obligations of buyers and sellers more clear. For example, the terms of FOB (Free On Board), CFR (Cost and Freight) and CIF (Cost Insurance and Freight) reference to the ship's rail and port of delivery has been omitted for delivery of the goods on board. "
Between the 3rd and the 5th of November, the country will host the 2nd meeting for the Americas of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
Organized by the Chamber of Industry of Guatemala (CIG), the event will host 150 delegates from 20 countries, including Latin America, USA, Canada, France, Spain and Portugal.
Javier Zepeda, director of IGC, said that during the event the ICC will present new proposals for International Commercial Terms (Incoterms), regulations expected to be tougher for international trade.
