More than two years ago, Convía won the contest to rehabilitate and operate the Escuintla-Puerto Quetzal highway in Guatemala. However, the Congress of the Republic, which is in chaos due to a new political crisis, has not yet defined whether to approve the PPP or not.
After a bidding process, the concession was granted in July 2018 through a public bidding process to the Consorcio Autopistas de Guatemala (Convía), a business group that passed the proposals of Mota-Engil Latin America and Anas International Enterprise.

Due to the tropical storms Eta and Iota, severe damage has been reported to the road network in Central American countries, and some border posts in Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador have been suspended.
Since November 17, operations were suspended at the El Corinto, El Florido and Aguas Calientes border posts. These areas, shared by Guatemala and Honduras, are not operational, according to the Guatemalan Superintendence of Tax Administration (SAT).
Costa Rica: $91 Million More for Road Works

CABEI and the Costa Rican authorities have signed a contract to extend the "Strategic Road Infrastructure Works Program" for a further $91 million, which finances, among other works, the construction of the Northern Beltway.
The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE) informed that the $91 million addendum, in addition to the $340 million of the Program, will allow the construction of the Northern Beltway Functional Unit V which maintains a cost of $70.5 million, as well as the reinforcement and modernization of the bridge over the Virilla River on National Route 32.

In Panama, the consortium made up of Constructora Urbana S.A. and Toronto Global Holdings Corp. was awarded the contract to design, build and finance the interconnection of the Cinta Costera 3 with the Calzada de Amador.
Two bids were submitted for this tender; whose initial reference value was $49.9 million. The first proposal, which amounted to $54.8 million, was made by the consortium AMADOR, formed by the companies Meco, S.A. and Puentes y Calzadas e Infraestructuras, SLU, Panama Branch.
