As of November 1st, meeting centers and event halls, including hotels, will be able to accommodate business and academic activities for up to 150 people.
In addition, in the specific case of social activities such as tea baskets or weddings, the maximum allowed capacity will be 30 people, also without the inclusion of those in charge of attending the event, reported the Costa Rican Tourism Institute.
Although the government did not extend the State of Calamity and since October 1, Guatemala has been allowing the holding of events, fairs and concerts, the sector's businessmen believe that it is not profitable to hold meetings in which an area of 10 m2 per attendee is required.
As a result of the elimination of restrictions on productive activities in El Salvador, businessmen in the event organization sector are confident that meetings will begin to be held in the last quarter of the year.

The Tourism Authority informed CCA-Cocige, responsible for building the Convention Center in Amador, the intention to cancel the contract because of critical flaws in the design and infrastructure.
The work was originally awarded to HPC Contratas P&V, but in 2016, after work was halted for 24 months because of a liquidity problem, the project was assigned to the CCA-Cocige consortium.
Proyecto, Ejecución y Control de Obras S.A. was awarded the contract to design and build the Boquete district convention center in the province of Chiriquí, Panama.
On January 14th, the resolution of the contracting process for the study, design, construction, equipment and commissioning of the Convention Center in the Western Region, located in the village of Alto Boquete, was published in the PanamaCompra portal.
Construction Management Group and the Consortia Desarrollo Boquete, Proyecto-ECI and Centro de Convenciones del Occidente, presented their offers to build the convention center in the province of Chiriqui, Panama.

Paraguay, April 13, 2018.Today Guatemala was selected as the venue for the 64th meeting of the Regional Commission of the World Tourism Organization for the Americas (CAM), in the framework of the 63rd meeting of the regional commission, in which they will also be holding the International Seminar on the empowerment of women in Asunción, Paraguay.
According to a study carried out by Guatemalan touristic authorities, in 2016 there were 19,500 meetings in which one million people took part, generating revenues of $1 billion.
Tourism authorities reported that "... the meetings industry generated a direct expenditure (sales and consumption) of 1,051 million US dollars in the national economy, of which43.5% was spent on tourism concepts and the rest went to other sectors of the economy, generating a total of 27 thousand jobs. This data is reflected in a contribution to the Gross Domestic Product of 1.2%."
In Costa Rica, hotels and companies in the sector are preparing themselves with expansions and new services in order to take advantage of the opportunities afforded by the new convention center.
The recent inauguration of the new convention center, with 16 thousand square meters and capacity to hold up to 5,600 people at the same time, promises to boost the country's hotel activity, particularly in the Greater Metropolitan Area.
In Panama, it is expected that the convention center that is being built in Amador and which will be completed by the end of the year will generate $18 million in its first twelve months of operation.
Construction of the amphitheater, being done the consortium CCA-Cocige, is almost 70% complete to date, and it is expected that it will be finished by the end of 2018.The administration of the convention center will be the responsibility of the American company SMG, which was selected last September by the National Council of Tourism.
The administrator of the new convention center in Costa Rica plans to start operations in April, and in the next four years it is expected that 60 congresses will be organized, which will generate $180 million.

Fifteen event organizers in Europe may be interested in using the Panamanian convention center between 2019 and 2022.
The Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP) reported that some 15 companies organizing events in Spain, Germany and Russia have shown interest in using, between 2019 and 2022, the facilities of the Amador Convention Center under construction, whose construction will be finished next year.
