Honduran haulage contractors have announced a blockade of goods coming from Nicaragua at the end of the month.
The announcement was released in Honduran press by Benjamín Castro, president of the country's Freight Transport Chamber, who did not reveal the exact date chosen.
"Castro states that despite repeated complaints, Honduran hauliers have not received support from the Porfirio Lobo government saying that there is no choice remaining because nobody listens. He adds that they have also approached Nicaraguan authorities, but without success," reports El Nuevo Diario.
The domestic market in Panama grew in 2008 by 5%, and is estimated to continue growing in 2009, despite the crisis.
According to the article by Raul Carrillo on Laestrella.com.pa, "The general manager of Air Panama, Eudardo Stagg, said that the demand from the "domestic sector" in 2008 increase by 5% in relation to 2007." ... "Regarding the perspectives for 2009, Stagg said that they expect, despite everything, that demand will prevail, considering that Panama is going through good times economically."

They also agreed that all vehicles coming from Central America will have to present their vehicle registration and insurance policy at the border in order to control the flow into the country.
