Thirteen companies have toured the Etesa power substations as part of the bidding process for the design, supply, construction and financing of the third transmission line of 230 kilowatts.
According to Argelis Echazabal, Project Manager at Empresa de Transmisión Eléctrica S.A. (Etesa), the tour is part of the bidding process as indicated in the tender conditions, so that bidders can obtain all the necessary field information for preparing their proposals.
An award will be given for the construction of the third transmission line Veladero-Llano -Sánchez-Chorrera Panama of 230 kilowatts, and the Associated Substations.
The companies who attended the clarification meeting of the tender sought to extend the deadline for the receipt of bids, set for next July 1.
"Among the participants were Techint, Ingelmec, Alubar Energy, Scotia Bank, Sadeven, IFE-Inproin Consortium, Guiehr / GE, Suclavalin Panama, Don Fang Electric and Inabasa, Odebrecht, among others," noted an article in Laestrella.com.pa.
Following the acquisition of Inmet Mining, the former owner of the mega mining project in Panama, First Quantum has suspended construction contracts with SNC-Lavalin, for $120 million.
A statement by SNC-Lavalin notes that, "First Quantum Minerals, which recently acquired a majority stake in Inmet Mining Corporation (Inmet), and took control of the Cobre Panama project, typically directs and executes its projects based on direct internal recruitment procedures, looking for external experience only when necessary. "
Canada's Inmet Mining Corp. hired Joint Venture Panama (JVP) to provide the basic engineering for the copper mining project located in Colon.
The contract also provides, subject to project completion, the engineering, material purchase and construction management (EPCM) for all structures of the mine, except for the power plant, which will be developed by GDF Suez Centroamerica.
Canadian company SNC-Lavalin presented their proposal for expanding the airport.
Ernesto Altschul is the manager of CEPA, the government authority overseeing the project. He said that "Generally, they endorse the concept by Aéroports de Paris of a three-stage terminal".
"In Septebmer 2007, CEPA received from Aéroports de Paris (AdPi) a 3-stage master plan for developing El Salvador International Airport (AIES).
