The high quality coffee that received the best quote in the international electronic auction in the Cup of Excellence contest is from the Don Cayito farm, with a price of $30,009 per hundredweight.

A live online auction using a certified electronic platform, was carried out by the Salvadoran Coffee Council (CSC) today, where coffee was offered and sold to buyers from different parts of the world.

A new competition delimiting gourmet quality of coffee has been announced along with an online auction, replacing the Cup of Excellence competition, whose 2016 edition was suspended by El Salvador and Nicaragua.
The jury of the new competition called "The Finest Coffees in Nicaragua", organized by the Specialty Coffee Association of Nicaragua (ACEN), finished defining the event on January 23, and coffee samples from the Pacific and North of the country will be received on 26 and 27 February, while those from Nueva Segovia will be received on 18 and 19 March.
On June 17, an electronic auction will he held of the winning lots in the Cup of Excellence, which will include the participation of 78 lots which obtained a score of above 85%.
The aspects to be taken into consideration when awarding ratings are fragrance, aroma and aftertaste. It is hoped that they results of the competition will be known by 8 May at the latest.
The first stage of the "Cup of Excellence" competition will be held from 23 to 27 March and the electronic auction of winning lots will take place on June 9.

The Honduran Coffee Institute (IHCAFE) in its constant quest for recognition of the quality of Honduran coffee holds every year the Cup of Excellence competition which allows coffee producers to enter specialty coffee markets, this competition is developed in partnership with the Alliance for Coffee Excellence (ACE).
The thirteenth edition of the Nicaragua Cup of Excellence 2015 will be held on April 24 in Matagalpa.
Those interested in participating have until March 23 to submit their samples. In order to enter the competition entrants must have at least 15 quintals of export quality coffee. The main objective of this event is to chose the best specialty coffees from the last harvest.

A Japanese company has paid a record price for coffee in El Salvador in the Cup of Excellence auction.
The variety coffee sold is Pacamara and the lot comes from the San Nicolás farm in Chalatenango.
During the five hour auction, 26 lots of coffee reached an average selling price of $1019.83 per quintal, up by almost $175.00 compared to the average obtained in 2012, which was $840.24 per quintal, noted the National Coffee Council . "
For the first time lots of very fine coffee from the Cup of Excellence event will be sold in the country at a national level and not in the international auction.
The Specialty Coffee Association of Costa Rica reported that the lots that do not pass on to the international stage, despite their high quality, will be sold here after coordination with national roasters and coffee producers, according to Nacion.com.
