El Salvador forges diplomatic links with OmanThursday, April 17, 2008 El Salvador established diplomatic relations with the Sultanate of Oman as part of a strategy that aims to strengthen relations with the Arab world. The agreement was signed Monday in New York by Foreign Minister Marisol Argueta de Barillas and Oman's UN representative, Fuad al Hinai. Oil and natural gas form the backbone of Oman's economy but in recent years it has diversified into areas such as tourism.
