Honduras, main buyer
Last year, the main buyer of diapers and similar items in Central America was Honduras, with $60 million, followed by Panama, with $59 million, El Salvador, with $47 million, Guatemala, with $44 million, Nicaragua, with $39 million and Costa Rica, with $37 million.
From January to September 2018, the value of imported diapers and similar items in the region totaled $143 million, and purchases from companies in Mexico grew 11% over the same period in 2017.

Through a regional association, companies dedicated to the cosmetics and personal care business in Central America work together to help simplify procedures and improve health regulations.
The aim of the association, composed of guilds from several countries in the region and manufacturing and importing companies, is to support government institutions in the creation of standards and rules that facilitate trade and improve conditions of access to markets, both regionally and to the external market.
In the first six months of the year, Central American companies imported $239 million in beauty and personal care items, and imports from Colombia increased 5% over the same period in 2017.
