While Costa Rica still has not defined a legal scheme to regulate the mode of transport offered by Uber, in El Salvador the company has started operations with the government´s approval.
The technology company that offers a private transportation network started operating in San Salvador on May 9, with the backing of the Sánchez Cerén administration.
The government could sign a cooperation agreement with the aerospace company for the project to expand the international terminal in San Salvador.
This is not the first time that representatives from the aviation sector have approached the government to propose the development of the Monseñor Romero airport , which is already operating above its capacity and limiting the development and growth of companies in the same sector and the country as an air hub for the airline Avianca.
Businessmen are asking for "... the establishment of concrete commitments and legal limits on the financial debts that the government may take out in the name of all Salvadorans."
From a statement issued by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in El Salvador:
Approval of new issues of government bonds are not the solution to the problem of the government's lack resources, until there is a Fiscal Responsibility Law to address comprehensively the problem of sustainability of public finances, there is no guarantee that the government will not continue acquiring more debt which is not translated into improvements in the areas of security, education, health, infrastructure and other essential services for the population.
