Between 2018 and 2019, the unemployment rate in the country did not vary significantly, falling by just 0.3% from 2.8% to 2.5%.
Data from the 2019 National Income and Employment Survey (ENEI 1), prepared by the National Statistics Institute (INE), show that at the time of the survey the unemployed population was 179,000, down from 194,000 in the ENEI I of 2018.
For the 2018-2019 agricultural cycle, the cultivated area in the country was 925,101 hectares, 14% less than the 1.07 million reported for the 2017-2018 cycle.
Data from the National Agricultural Survey (ENA), prepared by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), show that in the last agricultural cycle about 149,000 hectares were not cultivated with corn.
Guatemala, Huehuetenango, Quetzaltenango, Quiche, Totonican, San Marcos and Retalhuleu are the departments with the highest demand for household appliances.
According to the census sample conducted by the National Statistics Institute (INE), derived from the Population Census conducted in 2018, the areas that concentrate the greatest demand for household appliances match the areas that receive the most family remittances sent from abroad.
In September the consumer price index recorded a monthly variation of -0.21% and inflation accumulated so far this year of 3.11%.

The monthly variation of 0.17% in April 2016, shows a slowdown compared to April 2015 (0.34%), while cumulative and annual variation recorded an acceleration in price levels.
In March the consumer price index registered a variation of 0.20%, accumulating in the first three months of the year inflation of 1.33%.

In February, the CPI registered a variation of 0.93%, accumulating so far this year an inflation of 0.81%.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) showed a monthly variation of 0.93% (0.72% in December 2015), mainly explained by increased prices on some goods and services in the divisions of food and nonalcoholic beverages (0.93%), education (6.15%) and restaurants and hotels (1.69%), which together contributed 0.866 percentage points to the observed variation.
In December, the consumer price index recorded a rise of 0.91%, making inflation in the last twelve months 4.38%.
The monthly variation recorded in January 2016 stood at 0.91%, with an acceleration of 0.48% compared to the previous month (0.43%). In relation to the figure for January 2015 it went up by 1.27%.

In December, the consumer price index recorded a rise of 0.43%, accumulating between January and December inflation of 3.07%.
The monthly (0.43%), cumulative (3.07%) and annual (3.07%) variation, recorded an acceleration in the price level relative to the amounts observed in December 2014.

The annual variation in December 2015 (3.07%) accelerated by 0.12 relative to that observed in the same month last year (2.95%). And in relation to that recorded in November 2015 (2.63%) it rose by 0.44.
In October, the consumer price index recorded a rise of 0.50%, and accumulated inflation so far this year of 2.14%.
The monthly change (0.50%) shows acceleration compared with October 2014 (0.15%), while the accumulated (2.14%) and annual (2.23%) changes, recorded a slowdown in the level of prices compared to those observed in October 2014.

Driven by lower oil prices and uncertainty which has reigned in the country in recent months, prices of steel products for construction recorded declines of between 15% and 30%.
The construction sector attributed the decline mainly to the drop in oil prices, to which the behavior of global steel is closely related. On top of this is the negative effect of the political crisis in the country which although did not stop the advance of the economy, generated uncertainty about the speed with which the problem would be solved in the future.
The consumer price index varied by 0.37% in June compared to May, placing accumulated inflation in the year at 1.08%.

Monthly variation recorded in June 2015 stood at 0.37%, which shows an acceleration in the price level of 0.17 from the previous month (0.20%). In relation to the level reached in June 2014 (0.53%) it dropped by 0.16.
