The Mayor of San Jose plans to develop, in an 18 thousand square meters aree in the center of the capital, a building to house technology companies and universities.
The objective of the Municipality of San José is to attract foreign investment to the capital with the development of a business park dedicated to the technology sector. For this end, the Agency for Local Economic Development (ADEL) has been created, which will be responsible for implementing the project.
The estimates for the number of low-income family homes needed to be built in San José and Alajuela to meet current demand is 15,000.
Data from the Housing Promotion Foundation in Costa Rica indicates that in the capital the number of social or low-income homes needed to be built is 8,633.

Economic, political and public opinion factors seem to be lining up together making the new tram project for the capital San Jose have a good chance of coming to fruition.

Nacion.com reports: "Mata Redonda, Merced, Catedral, Hospital and El Carmen have in the last three years represented half of the total square meters (sqm) for which there are applications for building permits. In this area, construction of houses and stores has the most dynamism ... ".
A feasibility study has been submitted by the mayor of the capital of Costa Rica which sets the required investment at $220 million.

An article in Nacion.com reports that the initial proposal does not define exactly when the initiative would come online, and who would be responsible for converting the waste into energy, but agrees that it would be a private company, selected through a competition process.
The Municipality of the capital of Costa Rica has announced that in two months time it will be running a system for paying for street parking.
The users sends a text message to a number (to be defined), which contains the license plate and the location of they are parking, which activates the rates. Once back in the car the rate counter is turned off and the system automatically charges a bank account to which the cell phone is linked.
The growing demand for parking has led to the emergence of dozens of new parking lots in San Jose over the last 3 years, with 296 patents having been processed in 2011 alone.
Yendry Rivera, of San Jose City's Mayor's Office, said that in 2009 the county processed 278 patents for parking lots, in 2010 the figure rose to 285, and last year to 296, reported Nacion.com.
Real estate developers are betting that they can transform the capital city into the newest center for investment in the nation.
The plan to give San Jose a new face and make it a new investment center has convinced construction companies and project developers alike to get on board.
The proposal was strengthened by the recommendations included in the framework of the National Construction Congress, which took place June 4-6.
