Medical Devices: New Investment Announced

SMC Ltd, a manufacturer of medical devices, diagnostics and pharmaceuticals, announced that it will invest in increasing its installed capacity and expanding its facilities in Zona Franca Coyol, Costa Rica.
The Costa Rican Coalition of Development Initiatives (Cinde) reported that the expansion in Costa Rica will provide additional capacity for molding, clean room assembly and general manufacturing operations.

In Panama, the Cabinet Council approved the extension for six more months of the decree which, in the context of the pandemic, provides tax benefits for the importation of medical and personal hygiene supplies.

Bomerics, a company engaged in the manufacture of medical devices, announced that it will invest in the expansion of its operations plant located in Zona Franca Zeta, province of Cartago.
The new facilities will have an area of 10,200 m2, which doubles the 4,600 m2 it currently has. According to a press release from the Costa Rican Coalition of Development Initiatives (Cinde), the investment will allow the company to develop a full-service, vertically integrated business model.

ICU Medical Inc. announced that it will build an industrial plant in Heredia, Costa Rica, dedicated to the manufacture of medical devices for infusion therapy and critical care applications.
The investment made in the plant located in La Aurora de Heredia will include a new infusion pump manufacturing line and a state-of-the-art sterilization plant, reported CINDE.

After investing $100 million, Edwards Lifesciences opened its second heart valve manufacturing plant in La Lima, Cartago.
