The entry of travelers into Panama grew by 6.9% at the end of last year, going from 6,668 in 2014 to 7,128 in 2015. This greater volume of passengers spent 12.7% more than they did in 2014, reaching a record high of $4,199.7 million, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Census.
Up to November, economic activity grew by 4.09% yoy, driven by the electricity and water sectors, transport, storage and communications, construction, and financial intermediation.

The Census of Construction of Buildings, during the third quarter of 2015, investigated 1,325 works, 6.8 percent more than in the same period last year. The amount of constructed area was 145.266 square meters, of which 89.8 percent corresponded to the district of Panama and 10.2 percent to San Miguelito .
Activities linked to the external sectors such as ports, air transport, financial, tourism, Canal services, and banana, melon and watermelon exports were the most dynamic.
