Foreign Minister Maria Angela Holguin, and the Secretary General of the Central American Integration System (SICA), Hugo Martinez, signed as part of the 68th Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations, an agreement which formalizes Colombia's admission as an observer of this regional organization.
The initiative aims to contribute to strengthening trade and investment promotion between the two nations.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hugo Martinez, inaugurated on March 29th in Mexico City, Mexico, the Mexico-El Salvador Business Chamber (CAMEXSAL), an initiative to help strengthen trade and investment promotion between the two nations.
The money will finance projects in health, education, security, agriculture and tourism among other things, in the period 2012-2014.
Taiwan has granted resources for funding projects under a five-year program of cooperation agreed in January 2010.
According to an article in EFE: "The $ 17.5 million will go to projects in health, education, security, agriculture, childhood, tourism, foreign affairs, environment and climate change, said Hugo Martinez, a Salvadoran Foreign Minister in a press conference.
