Following the reactivation of air transportation and the easing of restrictions on foreign visitors, the Marriott chain announced the reopening of four hotels operating in the country and the Four Seasons will also reopen its resort in Guanacaste.
The year 2020 has been a complex one for the tourism sector in general, since due to the outbreak of covid-19 since March the hotels began a period in which they did not receive income. In recent weeks, with the relaxation of restrictions, tourism activity has been reactivated and every day more chains are deciding to reopen their facilities.
In Costa Rica, the hotel union includes 32 registered establishments considered luxury hotels, offering accommodation options with prices ranging from $160 to $30 thousand per night.
The wide diversity of tourists that the country receives explains the existence of a wide range of hotels, according to representatives from the Costa Rican Chamber of Hotels (CCH).The hotel supply caters for both tourists looking to stay in one star hotels, to other more demanding customers, seeking higher-level alternatives.
The Four Seasons hotel has announced that it will be closing for four months to remodel its facilities in Papagayo in Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
Elfinancierocr.com reports that "...The work will be comprehensive and will include a new look for all areas, including the rooms, lobby and entrance area, fitness center equipment, pool and beach furniture, and new restaurant concepts."
An announcement has been made for the 2016 opening of a Fairfield hotel by Marriott, a 130-room hotel in San Salvador, situated next to La Gran Via shopping center.

Marriott International has announced its plans to open a hotel with 130 rooms under the Fairfield by Marriott brand in El Salvador. The hotel will be located next to La Gran Via shopping center and close to companies such as Xerox, Citibank, the World Bank, Bayers and Siemens. The hotel will serve as an excellent accommodation choice for frequent business travelers. The hotel will be developed by Dueñas Hermanos Ltda. And managed by Marriott International under a long-term agreement.
