Through a trust the government will provide financing for the purchase of middle class housing, in local currency and at a rate of 8.7%.

Tegucigalpa, April 9. With an amount of 600 million lempiras (around $25 million) and to benefit 2,000 Honduran families, the government today announced a trust that will have a special focus on guaranteeing access to housing for the middle class.
The entity has raised the forecasts for real GDP growth from 3.5% to 4% for 2017, driven by private consumption, exports and investment.

A contract has been signed for the start of works on the International Airport in Palmerola, Comayagua, so that operations can start in 2018.

The President Juan Orlando Hernandez opened the Río Amarillo airport, 18 kilometers from the Copan ruins, which is now the second air terminal built under his administration, after the de Gracias airport in Lempira.
Spain has confirmed a contribution of $52 million for the construction of the airport, but there is still $83 million left which the Honduran government is looking to raise through a public-private partnership.

The government is looking for alternatives to resolve the conflict between producers and traders, which has generated shortages and led to a rise in prices.
In recent weeks the shortage of meat in the country has caused an increase in prices in the market, despite being one of the products in a list whose prices are controlled. A pound of meat has risen to $2.75. This shortage is attributed to illegal smuggling of cattle to Guatemala.
An international call has been announced for the development and implementation of an immigration system and the issuance of passports, an event which will take place in March.

The commissioner of the Commission for the Promotion of Public Private Partnership (COALIANZA), Miguel Angel Gamez announced that in March they will be launching an international competition for a Modernization Project, for the Improvement, Management and System Operation of Immigration Control and Passport Issuance in Honduras.
The South Korean company says it will be investing $300 million in public infrastructure, including works on electrification, renewable energy projects and hospital infrastructure.
For the construction of a hospital in Choluteca the multinational Samsung plans to invest $35 million, while for the electrification in rural areas and renewable energy projects it has estimated it will spend $40 million and $45 million respectively.
The government has extended the price freeze on seven basic food products, including red beans and ground beef, for 30 days.
