The European Commission has issued Regulation No. 828/2014 to regulate the terms "gluten free" and "very low gluten" which so far have been regulsated by Regulation No. 41/2009. This new regulation will take effect from July 20, 2016, at which time the requirements for the transmission of information to consumers on the absence or reduced presence of gluten in foods will apply and the previous regulation will be repealed.

The European Commission (EC) decided to restrict the use of three neonicotinoid pesticides used in the growing of plants and cereals, after finding that these are harmful to bees. The restrictions set out in regulation 485/2013 amending Regulation 540/2011 and specifically prohibits the use of clothianidin, imidacloprid and tiametoxan, from May 25, 2013.
The Association Agreement between Central America and the European Union will enter into force on August 1 for countries which ratify it before July 15.
