Local authorities announced plans to build in the province of Colon the Gatun Generating Station, an energy complex that will operate with liquefied natural gas and will require a $1,000 million investment.
The morning of June 1, President Laurentino Cortizo Cohen explained that this project will require a foreign investment from Group Energy Gas Panama, a consortium formed by InterEnergy Group and AES Panama.
Empresa de Transmision Electrica bids the analysis, preliminary studies and consulting services for the preparation of the environmental impact study of the project called Chiriquí Grande-Panamá III, 500 Kv operating at 230 Kv.

After receiving a ruling opposing the international arbitration disputed with Teco Energy, the New York State Supreme Court ordered the seizure of $15.75 million from Guatemala.
Teco Energy is a company that was a shareholder of Empresa Eléctrica de Guatemala and years ago claimed international arbitration, arguing that from 2008 to 2013 the National Energy Commission set a maximum amount that energy distribution companies could charge the user.

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration approved a line of credit for the country to finance works to expand coverage, energy efficiency and resilience to climate change.

In El Salvador, the electricity distribution company Delsur announced that this year it plans to invest in building a substation, increasing power transfer capacity and electrifying rural areas.
Directors of the company reported that for this year it is considered to start the construction of the new substation El Volcán, which will serve as an energy supply point for the metropolitan area of Santa Tecla and will require about $2.6 million.
During 2019, electricity purchase and sale transactions between Central American countries amounted to 3,074 GWh, a 14% increase compared to 2018.
Figures from the Regional Operating Entity (EOR) show that the average price recorded in regional transactions during 2018 and 2019 also increased, going from $74.05 per MWh to $90.11 per MWh.
