A committee will be formed with representatives from the productive sector and government to prepare a draft law regulating the activity of shrimp fishing in the country.

In order to build a sustainable model to organize the shrimp fishing industry, to create jobs and fight poverty in coastal communities of the Costa Rican Pacific, the Government has issued a national policy for the sustainable utilization of shrimp.
By means of an executive decision, the Ministry of Health has opened up a quick way of solving bureaucratic issues causing the closure of a business due to problems with the registration of their products.

Costa Rica's Congress has authorized the government to sign a loan with national or international sources for up to $55 million in order to modernize the Port of Moin.

The Legislative Assembly approved with the unanimous support of 42 MPs, in the second reading, a proposal authorizing the Executive to enter into a loan agreement with national or international sources for an amount of $55 million for the purpose of modernizing the infrastructure of the Port of Moin.
Bill aims to make public the names of people and companies that are in arrears in the payment of taxes in Costa Rica.
The bill is being sponsored by the Frente Amplio in the Costa Rican Legislative Assembly and has the support of MPs from different benches and even the Executive.
Under the reform, " information about the names of individuals and legal entities that have tax debts to the Treasury, and the amount of such debt will be publicly accessible," reported Nacion.com.
The new proposal by the Government still does not meet the expectations of different sectors.
Businesses and the political opposition in Congress are continuing to put the brakes on the government’s tax reform proposal, which has been presented in the form of a second amended version with which they have tried to satisfy the project’s critics.
One of the elements included in the original proposals which generated the most objections from the opposition was the tax on private education and health services which in this second version has been revised and modified.
The Government thinks of three measures to change the deviation between the equilibrium exchange rate and the currently observed rate.
The measures would be to directly intervene the currency market, taxing transactions in Dollars and / or restrict the inflow of capital, as expressed by First Vice President Luis Liberman.
With this, the government gives clear signals of dissatisfaction with the current exchange rate, which is threatening the labor market through the loss of export competitiveness.
The new electricity bill proposes the creation of a wholesale electricity market for private companies.
This market, to be supervised by Costa Rica's Public Services Regulator (ARESEP), will be guaranteed 35% of total national electricity demand over the next 10 years.
