Proposals to build a 50.6 km expansion of the Inter-American highway range between $75 and $182 million.
The National Roads Authority (Conavi), received 11 bids for the expansion and rehabilitation of national road No. 1, North American highway, for the stretch Cañas-Liberia.
The offers range from $75 to $113 million for the upgrade option using asphalt which has a lifespan of 12 years, between $87 and $182 million for asphalt with a lifespan of 20 years and between $95 and $166 million for the option using concrete with a lifespan of 20 years.
The offer by the Costa Rican construction company is $35.9 million, Panama Bacsa’s was for $36.1 million.
Both proposals are below the state reference price of $36.2 million.
As long as no objections are filed and requirements are fulfilled, Meco Construction will be awarded the contract.
