A consortium of national and international agencies has proposed a plan to improve the quality and productivity of Nicaraguan specialty coffees and their promotion in the European market.
The plan entitled "Strategies for promoting specialty coffee in Nicaragua" seeks to replicate successful experiences in financing, technical assistance and technological innovation models, in order to strengthen the production process of small and medium producers.

A delegation of 10 Guatemalan companies took part, in February 2014, in the horticultural trade fair 'Fruit Logistica' in Berlin, Germany, where they showed products such as French beans, snow peas, sweet pea, blackberry, rambutan, lemon, zucchini, broccoli, mini vegetables, among others, projecting business deals worth $7 million.
The 'Coaching Exportation to Europe' program aims to train 100 Guatemalan businesses to export to the Netherlands.
The program is being led by the Guatemalan Association of Exporters (Agexport) with support from the Centre for the Promotion of Imports from the Netherlands (CBI).

Growers and exporters are developing strategic plans to double their exports to the European Union.
Plans will be developed for coffee, meat, shrimp, peanut, organic cacao, honey, sesame and tobacco.
Patrick Gouka, director of the Exports and Investments Center of Nicaragua (CBI), explained that "one of the aspects they will analyze is the quality and value-added of their merchandise, as this is an important requirement of the European market".
