Tegucigalpa, February 01, 2016.- As part of the actions taken by the Government of the Republic to mitigate the impacts of climate change in the Dry Corridor, Honduras Strategic Investment (INVEST-Honduras) has signed a trust agreement (L 400 million) in FICOHSA Bank for the implementation of the Water Harvest project.
A call is being made for participation in an international tender for the award of a contract to provide services to the National Electricity Company of Honduras.

An agreement between the French Development Bank and Ficohsa will facilitate the development of renewable energy projects.
Ficohsa Bank becomes the first Honduran banking institution to receive funding for projects of this nature.

An article in Tiempo.hn reports that, "The commissioner of COALIANZA, Octavio Sanchez, told Tiempo that through a public tender construction companies will be invited to submit bids, and whoever presents the best offer will be chosen. Sanchez explained that the government will pay the company for the cost of those 40 miles at 50 million lempiras per year, which is the amount spent annually in the budget of revenues and expenditures for the maintenance of the road. The final project cost will be defined when the firm has been contracted. These funds will be administered for purposes of payments to the executor of the work, by the FICOHSA bank."
The Honduran Council of Ministers has approved a draft decree relating to a trust agreement for the structuring, development and financing of the operation of the bulk cargo terminal at Puerto Cortes.

The Council of Ministers, of the government of President Porfirio Lobo Sosa , approved the draft decree on Tuesday relating to a trust agreement for the structuring, development and financing of the operation of a bulk cargo terminal at Puerto Cortes, at the request of the National Commission for the Promotion of Public-Private Partnerships (COALIANZA).
The bank will arrange for a team of advisers who will structure an international tender to award works for modernizing the port.
After calling a tender, the official body Coalianza has chosen Honduran Banco Financiera Comercial SA (Ficohsa) as trustee bank and arranger of the modernization project of Puerto Cortes.
Using the mechanism of Public Private Partnership (PPP), Ficohsa, as trustee and arranger, is responsible for hiring a team of consultants (independent companies) in the technical, economic, financial, socio-real estate, environmental and legal fields, which together with Coalianza will create the documents entitled the "Project" and "International public tender to modernize the port facility", reports Elheraldo.hn.
At the end of last year, 2011, the insurance market reported a growth of 9.6% compared with 2010.
According to the National Commission for Banking and Insurance (CNBS), growth in premiums was $28.7 million.

The OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) and the Banco Financiera Comercial SA Honduras (Banco Ficohsa) yesterday signed an agreement for a line of $10 million credit to support continued access to long-term financing by Small and Medium Companies (SMEs) in Honduras.
The Rural Development Bank (Banrural) and the off shore bank Mercom Bank Ltd., will fund luxury tourism projects on the Honduran coast.
Banrural will participate in the financing of the project's Los Micos Beach in Bahía de Tela and Mercom Bank Ltd of the financial group Agromercantil, will fund the project ‘Pristine Bay Resort, Golf & Spa’ on the island of Roatan, Honduras.
The Honduran banking group has opened its first regional agency in the Panamanian banking center.
Camilo Atala, Grupo Ficohsa’s chairman, said the headquarters in Panama will serve as a platform to expand into the rest of the Central American market.

Javier Atala, manager of Ficohsa Bank, noted that this project will contribute to the tourism industry and will help promote Honduras as one of Central America's leading tourist destinations.
The IDB approved a loan to Ficohsa Bank in order to fund renewable energy projects.
Corporations and companies will have access to the line of credit to finance renewable energy ventures.
