Producers estimate a 60% increase for the 2010-2011 harvest, reaching 2.4 million quintals.
Antonio Alvarado, president of the Salvadoran Foundation for Coffee Research (Procafé), stated that the growth is partly driven by good international prices.
"By the middle of last year, international coffee prices reached levels not seen in 13 years. In April 2010, the average price per quintal was around $ 142.28 but by August it exceeded $ 240 and since then it has not shown prices below $ 200," reports Elmundo.com.sv.
