Responding to the growing demand for the air route, Air China confirmed that it will increase the weekly frequencies it operates between Beijing and the Panamanian capital from one to three in the coming months.
Although did not specify the date when the three frequencies would start operating, officials from the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP) confirmed that Air China had informed them of the decision to expand its operations in the country.
It is estimated that about 40,000 tourists will come from the Asian country, and in 2019 this figure could rise to 200,000.
The arrival of Air China's first flight to Tocumen represents a new opportunity for tourism entrepreneurs in Panama to reactivate the sector and increase hotel occupancy, which has not exceeded 50% in recent years.
