The state power company has presented a major expansion and improvement plan for transmission towers and high voltage substations and intends to start the tender process in the first weeks of 2015.
The Transmission Company of El Salvador (Etesa) plans to implement this project within 5 to 10 years and will fund it by adding charges on electricity bills for consumers.
The new tender for the generation and supply of 350 MW has so far involved three companies, one of which is new to the market.
Elsalvador.com reports that "DelSur’s CEO, Roberto Gonzalez, confirmed yesterday that three companies are interested in participating in the new tender for the project to generate 350 megawatts (MW) of energy and have already bought the documents.
ETESAL will purchase 125 VDC battery banks for its electric substations.
Any company can bid, in addition to a group of entities directly invited by ETESAL, which include "Repelec, S. A., de C. V.", "Paradoxe Corporation", "A.I.S.A. Inversiones Energéticas, S. A.", "Power Sistems, S. A. de C. V.", "Escoto S. A. de C. V." and "Sesa, de C. V".
To participate, companies must pay $60 and request the terms for bidding before September 3rd.
