Among the elements that the business sector proposes incorporating into the discussion on the water bill is respect for acquired rights.
The Coordinating Committee for Agricultural, Commercial, Industrial and Financial Associations, (CACIF) has asked Congress to be take them into account in the debate on the water law initiative, and raised a number of issues to be considered in the text-writing process.
Creating a Vice Ministry of water resources is being considered in order to monitor use of this resource and impose sanctions on those carrying out unauthorized diversion of rivers.
The water bill also creates payment rates for the direct use of water intakes, fines, regulations, reforestation and watershed sustainability projects, among other things.
The business sector is calling for resumption of the discussion to approve a water law in order to ensure a sustainable and rational supply and of the resource.
