Although only a few Costa Rican companies take part in trade shows worldwide, those that have done so generally obtaing good results.
During 2014 more than 50 exporting companies in Costa Rica took part in international trade fairs in order to meet potential customers, promote their business and strike deals to increase their shipments abroad. As a result of participation in some of these international fairs, agricultural products such as taro, ginger, squash, sweet potato, among others, will start be sold in the US soon.
In the two days of meetings representatives from 247 companies negotiated sales of $25 million, surpassing previous figures.
The product which made the most sales was coffee at 55%, followed by fruits and vegetables with 22%, said Azucena Castillo, general manager of the Association of Producers and Exporters of Nicaragua (APEN).
"APEN believes that not only was the show successful but also the Third Central American Congress of Food Science and Technology, which brought together 33 international experts, who gave 23 specialized lectures to domestic producers", writes Gisella Canales for La Prensa.
Expo Apen 2011 will take place on 23rd and 24th of September at the Crowne Plaza Convention Center in the capital.
The Association of Producers and Exporters of Nicaragua, Apen, organizer of the event, expects the event to be attended for first time by buyers from Poland, Belize and the United Kingdom.
240 domestic companies will attend the fair and present their products for export, said the manager Apen, Azucena Castillo.
The tenth annual conference organized by Nicaragua's Association of Producers and Exporters (APEN) will be held on 24 and 25 September in Managua.
The fair is proud of its successful and pioneering sector structure, which divides exhibiting suppliers into six sectors according to the family of products or services provided.
It is estimated that around 45% of Nicaraguan companies attend the ExpoApen event each year, held at a 618 m2 site dedicated to exhibitions and complementary activities.
In September 26 and 27, over 140 exporting companies will contact potential international customers.
Despite the economic crisis, the Asociation of Producers and Exporters of Nicaragua (Apen), organizer of the event, expects to surpass last year's results, when $26 million were negotiated. 30 international buyers have already confirmed their presence.
