Due to the implementation of a new tax system, the government has postponed until August 31 the deadline for filing tax declarations and reports which were due on July 31.
From a statement issued by the Ministry of Economy and Finance:
The Directorate General of Revenue (DGI) at the Ministry of Economy and Finance wishes to reiterate to all taxpayers that because of the implementation of the new tax information system e-Tax 2.0, official financial statements and reports that were due for submission on July 31 may be submitted until August 31, 2016.
From October it will be mandatory for declarations for the traditional and simplified taxation regimes for income taxes, sales, withholding tax and solidarity tax to be made using the electronic platform.

It has been announced that starting May companies will be obliged to declare their income for tax and VAT purposes in digital form.
Long lines to file tax returns presented by hand will go down in history, as from May all tax procedures currently carried out in the Ministry of Finance in person will be undertaken online, obligatorily. The website to be used is www.mh.gob.sv.

Annual Affidavit Compliance with Labor Obligations
Tuesday January 20 is the deadline for presentation of the Annual Affidavit of Compliance with Labor Obligations established by Article 23b of the Rules of the Law on the Promotion and Development of Export and Maquila Activity, a rule which is effective from 26 June 2013.
The Ministry of Finance has announced improvements made to online consultations on the value of the declared goods which aims to reduce underreporting by 20%.

In order to establish better controls for imported goods, the Customs Service, at Ministry of Finance has intensified and integrated software tools which will allow for a more efficient and effective application of the control instruments on the declarations on the entry and exit of goods.
A controversial clause which invalidated the right to deduct anticipated monthly minimum payments in settlement of income tax has been removed from the declaration form.
After receiving criticism from the private sector and experts claiming that the amendment violated the tax law, the Directorate General of Revenue (DGI) has removed from the tax form the check box that did not recognize the right of deduction of anticipated minimum monthly payments in settlement of income tax (IR).
