The market study "Refrigeration Equipment Market Study in Central America and the Dominican Republic", prepared by the Trade Intelligence Unit of CentralAmericaData, details the main figures of the business of importing this type of equipment.
From January to September 2019, Central American companies imported $319 million in fridges and freezers, and imports from Guatemalan companies increased 27% over the same period in 2018.

During the first half of 2019, Central American companies imported $200 million in fridges and freezers, and purchases from companies in Mexico grew 6% over the same period in 2018.

Between January and September 2018, companies in Central America imported $291 million in fridges and freezers, 12% less than in the same period last year.

From January to November 2018, imports of household appliances in Nicaragua totaled $106 million, 35% less than reported in the same period of the previous year.
Between the first eleven months of 2017 and the same period in 2018, foreign purchases of household appliances fell from $164 million to $106 million, according to the most current figures from the Central Bank of Nicaragua.
In the wholesale appliance distribution business in Costa Rica, it is estimated that Supro Suplidora and Corporación Watersonn represent close to 15% of the market share.
An analysis of CentralAmericaData's information shows that other companies with considerable commercial activity in the wholesale of appliances are Mabeca and Solcasa.

Imports of household appliances between April and July 2017 and the same period in 2018 reported a decline of 17% in Nicaragua.
According to figures from the Central Bank of Nicaragua, purchases abroad decreased from $100 million in 2017 to $84 million this year. The most significant year-on-year fall was recorded during the seventh month, as between July 2017 and the same month of this year the fall was 60%.
In the first three months of the year, Central American countries imported $92 million worth of refrigerators and freezers, and 45% was purchased by companies in Guatemala and Costa Rica.

Last year countries in the region imported $478 million worth of refrigerators and freezers, registering an increase of 8% compared to the figures in 2016.
