The Central American Bank for Economic Integration approved a $21.4 million extension for the financing of the "Project to Improve the Technical and Operational Capabilities of Puerto Corinto."
This extension brings the total amount guaranteed to $184.6 million, making it the largest investment in the country's port sector in recent decades, informed the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI).
In Panama, the National Assembly authorized the transfer of $11 million to finance the rehabilitation of tourism projects in Isla Colón, the Antón Valley and the construction of the Boquete convention center.
Regarding the administrative management to provide the funds, the National Assembly reported that the Budget Committee was responsible for approving two transfers of items from the Ministry of Commerce and Industries to the Panama Tourism Authority.
The government of Costa Rica wants to develop the project with the help of a private partner, who would contribute $1.3 billion for construction, among other things, of the new railway, wiring, tunnels and monitoring systems.
The project to build a rapid train service connecting Alajuela to Cartago, and which would fix the transportation problem affecting the Greater Metropolitan Area, requires a total investment of close to $2 billion, of which $1.3 billion would have to be contributed by a private company, through means of a concession for both the construction and operation of the line.
After having invested $15 million in the construction of the main conduit, the agricultural irrigation project that was supposed to bring water to farms in Guanacaste, Costa Rica, has not been completed due to lack of funds.
In July 2017 the agricultural irrigation project called "second stage of the southern channel" was inaugurated, which consisted in the construction of a main water pipeline measuring 32 kilometers in length.The works that are located in the province of Guanacaste, required an investment of $15 million which was financed with a loan from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE).
Approval has been given for a loan to build transmission lines that will connect the hydroelectric plant Tumarin Phase II with the National Load Dispatch Center in the municipality of Managua.

Members of the National Assembly approved on March 1 a loan decree agreed with the European Investment Bank, EIB, which will be used to finance the construction of transmission lines to connect the hydroelectric plant Tumarin Phase II with the National Center Load dispatch in the Municipality of Managua.
The government has announced that it will disburse the $27 million needed to complete the construction of the aqueduct in Peravia, which will be ready in February 2016.

The administration of the Panama City airport is looking overseas for investors to fund the $300 million needed to complete the construction of the southern terminal.
During the last administration of Tocumen a tender was scheduled for commercial spaces. to fund part of the works in the terminal. While this process is being completed, the manager of Tocumen SA, Joseph Fidanque III, is looking for alternative funding in the US and other markets.
The National Assembly has approved the transfer of $23 million to the Ministry of Health for the study, design, construction and equipping of Manuel Amador Guerrero Hospital in Colon.

The $23,623,000 886 are intended to cope with payment obligations of the contract 185 (2010), whose objective is the study, design, construction and equipping and financing of Hospital Manuel Amador Guerrero, in province of Colon, on the order of $ 22,732,000 and $891,000 for the construction, equipment and funding for Anita Moreno Hospital, in the province of Los Santos.
The government is negotiating with the World Bank to obtain financing for the construction of new hospitals in Golfito, Turrialba and Cartago.
A World Bank (WB) mission will be visiting the country next week to negotiate technical aspects of the financing, however, because it is public debt, the loan must be approved by the Legislature. It is expected that between July and August the bill will be sent for discussion and approval.
Spain has confirmed a contribution of $52 million for the construction of the airport, but there is still $83 million left which the Honduran government is looking to raise through a public-private partnership.

Shanghai Haojun Investment & Management is interested in participating in the project to build a road between Puerto Armuelles and a complementary port on the Atlantic coast.
The Chinese company Shanghai Haojun Investment & Management Co. Ltd. has expressed interest in taking part in the project which currently has a funding agreement for a technical study for the development of an intermodal canal, a multipurpose port and modernization of the infrastructure at the port in Armuelles.
The construction of the refinery El Supremo Sueño de Bolívar in Miramar, remains paralyzed as the government seeks funds to finance the second phase, the refinement complex.
At the moment, only the storage and distribution complex has been finished, works which were funded by Venezuela, but according to the agreement signed "... When oil is at $50, only 40% of that price is given in financing to the beneficiary country." Because of this, the government is seeking foreign funding for a second phase, but international conditions are not the best for resources for a project that "... does not seem to be profitable."
The government has announced the signing of a $44.8 million loan with the Central American Bank for Economic Integration for the construction of the main building of the Attorney General of the Republic.

The IIC has approved a loan of up to $11.9 million for the construction of a 10MW solar power plant in the province of Cocle.

The National Assembly has approved a loan from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration for hydraulic cement paving of 45 kms of the stretch passing through La Gateada- Naciones Unidas - Bluefields.
