The Costa Rican Electricity Institute tenders the maintenance service and installations in the telecommunications network, for the western metropolitan region.

"The contracted service will be carried out in the established area, in the territory covered by each plant that makes up the lines, with a scope of action in exceptional cases of 60 kilometers around the limit of the contracted area.
The Costa Rican Institute of Electricity tenders the maintenance service in the telecommunications network for the Huetar Atlántico area, under the delivery on demand modality.

"Maintenance service and facilities in the telecommunications network (Voice, broadband and TV). The Contractor must guarantee that the works executed will be carried out with the highest quality, complying with the requirements of the contracting sign and the applicable standards by the trained staff, the guarantee for these works will be of two (2) months in case of the installations and readjustments and of one (1) month in case of breakdowns, from the date in which ICE receives the service to its full satisfaction the Contractor will be committed to correct at its own expense and risk, including transportation and any other additional expense, all the works executed that do not comply with the requirements and standards indicated by ICE.
With resources from the National Telecommunications Fund the infrastructure required to provide services in the north of the country will be built.
The municipalities of San Carlos, Los Chiles, Guatuso and Upala have signed an agreement to expedite the process needed to be completed by the telecommunications companies Claro and Movistar in order to install base stations and to provide Internet service in the area.
Movistar has invested $15 million in a latest generation fiber optic network which will interconnect overland with Central Mexico.
Movistar, the mobile phone brand of Telefónica, has invested $15 million in a fiber optic network that will cover 3,158 kilometers and will connect to Central America and Mexico by land.
Juan Castroverde manager of Movistar Panama said that "through the Central Telefónica network, companies will have greater capacity, quality, security and reliability of their data. The network will have an initial capacity of 10 Gigabits per second for data transmission, in addition to providing a variety of routes and connection points."
In order to meet the growing demand for mobile connectivity Cable and Wireless is expanding its cellular network in Panama City and Colon.

"The provider of wireless services has invested $50 million in upgrading the network implemented in 2011 and which serves much of the Panamanian population.
The company Huawei, from the telecommunication sector, together with authorities from the government have signed a cooperation agreement to accelerate Panama's modernization.
The agreement includes items seeking to provide training and technical skills in areas such as data networks, digital switching systems and optical access networks. This will help modernize public management of the country.
Latin America's first multinational integrated infocommunication services provider has invested $2.2 million in the development of its corporate presence in the Colombian market.
The amount invested will increase to $5.2 million in 2011 and the number of ITS InfoCom “knowledge workers” is expected to go from 71 to around 150.
Costa Rica president, Laura Chinchilla, inaugurated the ITS InfoCom's new Bogota facilities on Friday.
