The new regulation, which entered into force on May 17, updates the terms and policies on health records of medicines in Panama.
The Regulation containing 611 articles was published in Gaceta Oficial No. 28776-B, and establishes two procedures for granting sanitary registrations, one regular and the other abbreviated, which applies to medicines coming from countries with high standards or strict authorities accredited by international organizations.

In Costa Rica, Farmacias Sucre agreed to purchase a percentage of the shares of Farmacias Santa Lucía, and plans to invest more than $2 million in strengthening both brands.
The business alliance, whose details of the percentage negotiated between the two companies were not disclosed, is pending approval by the Commission to Promote Competition (Coprocom).

Seven years after Cofasa filed a monopoly complaint against Fischel, in Costa Rica the Commission for the Promotion of Competition decided to impose a fine of almost $19 million on the pharmacy chain.
Representatives of the Commission for the Promotion of Competition (Coprocom), informed that the fine imposed on Fischel is provisional, since the resolution is in the appeals phase, so it is not final and cannot be released figures or other aspects of the ruling.
In the first nine months of last year, imports of pharmaceutical products in Central America totaled $2,418 million, 4% more than in the same period in 2017.
