The Irish manufacturer of medical devices by contract, Advant Medical, announced its intention to expand its operations with the installation of a plant in Costa Rica.

Heredia, Costa Rica, April 4, 2018.Advant Medical, a world leader in services and manufacturing of contract medical devices, recently announced its intention to expand its operations with the installation of a plant in Costa Rica.
With a $15 million investment, the US company Microtechnologies has expanded its specialized device production plant located in Coyol de Alajuela, Costa Rica.
The company specializes in the design and manufacture of critical miniature components that change the market through its use in platforms such as engine management systems, invasive surgical devices and safety controls for occupants.
The German company Heraeus Medical Components has started operating, in Cartago, Costa Rica, a production plant for medical devices, including guidewires and catheters for cardiovascular access.

CARTAGO, Costa Rica - February 1, 2018- Heraeus Medical Components today celebrated the grand opening of its new production plant with state-of-the-art technology, which highlights its commitment to its global clients, with innovation and growth in Costa Rica.Recognized as one of the leading providers of medical supplies in the world, the Heraeus operation in Cartago will play a key role in manufacturing its Finished Devices business line. This line includes guidewires and catheters for cardiovascular access. To meet the needs of its clients, which are always evolving, Costa Rica is now part of the global operation of Heraeus Medical Components, which has facilities in Germany, Switzerland, the United States, Puerto Rico and Singapore.
The French automotive group Delfingen will be building a vehicle wire harness manufacturing plant, and its entry into operation is scheduled for the first quarter of 2018.
The 1,500 square meter factory will specialize in the manufacture of electrical protection solutions for automobiles.
Operations have started at a plant in Alajuela owned by the company CooperVision, which manufactures soft contact lenses.

Coyol, Alajuela, June 15, 2016.CooperVision, an American company which is a leading manufacturer of soft contact lenses, today opened its new manufacturing facility in Coyol in Alajuela, where it will produce and distribute -initially to different regions of America and then the rest of the world - a line of silicone lenses for everyday use.
The permanent birth control device is being manufactured in the new plant that Bayer Medical started up in 2014, after making an investment of $12 million.
The plant began operating after the German company bought the assets of Conceptus, which included a patent for an inter-uterine contraceptive device to be manufactured in Costa Rica.
The company expects to produce 100,000 devices this year and increase production to 160,000 in 2016, for export to various international markets, including the United States, Canada and Europe. "
The country will promote foreign investment in these sectors, especially in areas with less development further away from the Greater Metropolitan Area.
The Costa Rican Coalition for Development Initiatives (Cinde) will focus on promoting investment in these sectors, diversifying its strategy of attracting investment and giving greater emphasis to the development of areas further away from the capital, where there is a stronger link with the productive sectors and agribusiness.
