11 complaints were submitted yesterday to the tender process for the supply of maintenance and beautification of boulevards and city accesses.
The tender process for the provision of maintenance and beautification of boulevards and access to by the Town Hall of San Pedro Sula, has received a total of 11 challenges. The companies who presented complaints are upset mainly because the municipality did not take into account the lowest prices.
The Honduran Ministry of Public Works, Transportation and Housing has put out a tender for resurfacing works on the Olanchito - San Lorenzao road.
According to the specifications, the tender is for the 47km of resurfacing on the Olanchito - San Lorenzo highway, in the Department of Yoro.
Currently the stretch of road between the communities of San Lorenzo and Olanchito has a sub-base, creating poor conditions for traffic due to rainfall in this sector making it very costly to keep the road in optimal conditions.
In September, the regulator will start the bidding process to hire a company to undertake repairs and maintenance.
The cost of repairs according to information from the National Electricity Company (ENEE), is about $20 million.
Sub technical manager of ENEE, Leonardo Deras told Latribuna.hn that domestic and foreign experts have agreed on the urgency of initiating repairs and maintenance.
With funding from the CABEI, the country will work on the national hydroelectric dams.
Special attention will be given to dam Los Laureles in Tegucigalpa, according to the manager of the National Service of Aqueducts and Sewers (SANAA), Danilo Alvarado.
Mr. Alvarado told Digital process, "these funds are aimed at a group of projects that were considered priorities in the short term, among them the inflatable part of the Laurels dam and improving the water system.”
Over 20 approved road infrastructure projects will go out to tender starting on July.
Napoleón Bográn, from the Honduran Civil Engineers Association, recommended the government to use better quality materials when building roads and highways, noting that the current poor state of the country’s road network is a result of low-quality supplies.
“As an additional consideration, Bográn recommended hiring more competent companies to supervise the works, striking an adequate balance between how much work is done and how efficiently resources are used”, reported Laprensa.hn.
Congress authorized a $21 million road infrastructure investment plant presented by the public works ministry.
It includes construction, maintenance and supervision works at various highways.
Laprensa.hn detailed the projects that will be developed: “…building and paving the highway between Cololaca and Valladolid, … supervising the project to rehabilitate and pave the road linking Tegucigalpa with Catacamas, … and paving the highway between El Porvenir and La peña”, among others.
Authorities calculated that $35 million will be required to repair infrastructure damaged by Ida Tropical Storm in 15 departments and 88 municipalities.
The transportation ministry added that the money is urgently needed to rebuild several kilometers of highways, bridges and 35% of non-paved roads.
“The worst-hit areas were Lempira, Choluteca, Valle, Comayagua, Intibucá and Olancho”, reported La Tribuna.
