The Foreign Minister, Jaime Miranda Flamenco, officially opened on October 31 a Commercial Office in El Salvador Sao Paulo, Brazil, in order to promote, expand and diversify economic, trade, investment and tourism links between this nation and the South American country.
The diplomatic mission will be concurrently accredited to Central America, and the announced purpose is the narrowing of trade and diplomatic relations with the region.

Last week, at the Forum for East Asia - Latin America Cooperation in Tokio, El Salvador signed agreements with Taiwan and Japan.
"We have signed agreements with Korea, Taiwan and Japan to promote trade and specific cooperation in areas like health, education and technology", said Martínez.
Both the president-elect of El Salvador and the Chinese government expressed interest in closer ties.
Mauricio Funes, president-elect of El Salvador, said Wednesday that he was interested in exploring the establishment of diplomatic relations and strengthening trade relations with the Asian country.
According to an article by AFP in mipunto.com, the Chinese government indicated its willingness today to "strengthen relations with El Salvador," but it clarified that “any closer ties to El Salvador should be based on the principle that the island of Taiwan is an integral part of Chinese territory."
