Between November 1st and the 4th foreign companies in the sector will be meeting with Guatemalan companies to learn about the supply of local products and services for events.

Several international personalities from various fields such as trade publications in weddings, event organizers, designers, chefs, among others, will be coming to Guatemala invited by the Guatemalan Institute of Tourism (INGUAT) and the union for Marketing Weddings and Honeymoons on a first trip for familiarization in this segment.
"The Food and Drink Trade Show 2014" will be held from May 19 to 21 in San Salvador and will bring together international buyers with companies in the region.

ARES presents the first annual exhibition that brings together suppliers, distributors and importers to showcase their products and services for the food industry, and related hospitality services in the region.
On March 24th and 25th Central American companies supplying the hotel and restaurant industry will meet in El Salvador.
El Salvador will be hosting the fifth edition of the Regional Provider Fair "Ferprotur 2014" for the hotel and restaurant industry, which will be held on 24 and 25 March in San Salvador.
In the fifth edition of Ferprotur national and international companies providing products, goods and services for the hotel and restaurant industry will come together.
The Colombian Decameron Group is expanding its investments in Latin America in 2012, including the opening of two hotels in Costa Rica and one in Panama.
In Costa Rica, Decameron will open this year a 330-room Royal Decameron Irazu in San Jose, and one in Jaco Beach, with 130 rooms.
"In April, they will open the first Hard Rock hotel in Central and South America, which will be located in Panama and will have 1,463 rooms.
Spring Hotel Suites has plans to open new premises for December 2012 in Panama.
Ramon Hernandez, corporate president and franchise manager, told Prensalibre.com that the license will cost of $35 thousand and that some $650 thousand investment is needed.
"The Guatemalan company has been in the market for 40 years and currently has two establishments, one in zone 13 and the other in Mixco" added the publication
The hotel chain has announced plans to expand with the opening of a hotel in the city of Antigua Guatemala in the short term.
Angel Rodriguez, general manager of the company, said the company's intention is to acquire an established hotel with about 200 rooms.
The expansion plan is expected to take place in no more than three years.
Prensalibre.com quoted the executive as saying, "We have been studying the market and in order to be profitable the hotel must have more than 150 rooms."
Grupo Krea plans to have the first phase of the project ready en Playa Monterrico, Santa Rosa by the first quarter of 2012.
The Guatemalan development project consists of hotels, villas and apartments distributed over an area of twenty hectares and will be built over a period of 5 years.
The USA’s emerging economic recovery and the growth in Guatemala's own economy are some of the reasons that have brought Grupo Krea to venture into this tourist development.
The project La Reunion Golf Club, in Antigua, will be inaugurated next March 28, with the opening of its golf course.
The complex covers 1.384 hectares, and will include 950 lots, villas and residences when completed. The project will also include a luxury hotel, an ecological boutique hotel, a spa, an observatory and a cultural center.
Roberto Roesch, co-developer, reports in a press release: "La Reunion will be the first Guatemalan foray into the touristic golf business. We hope to put Guatemala on the map as a world class golf destination, to attract both golfers and tourists to the resort".
The Reunión Antigua Golf Resort will open its doors to the public next January. The investment is coming from Guatemalans.
The Antigua Golf Resort offers an 18 hole golf course, a luxury apartment complex, a 35 suite hotel, and they expect the Hilton chain to build another hotel complex, Waldorf Astoria with 100 rooms, in the short term.
The resort is located in Sacatepéquez, next to Escuintla and five kilometers from the Los Volcanes racetrack.
Real Hotels & Resorts (RHR) is planning to double in size over the next two years.
