The Costa Rican Social Security department will be receiving bids in January for the construction of a hospital emergency room in Perez Zeledon.
Next year the Costa Rican Social Security Department (CCSS by its initials in Spanish) will invest $14 million in a new emergency and tomography room at the Fernando Escalante Pradilla Hospital.
The purchase of the tomography scanner has already been awarded and the tender for the emergency room, which will have a value of $12 million, will be held in January.
With an investment of about $36 million, the Social Security Department will be putting out to tender later this year the construction of an Oncology Tower at Hospital Calderon Guardia.
The hospital's director, Dr. Luis Paulino Hernández, told La Prensa Libre, "We are thinking of having five floors, the idea is that we will move the staff we have now and strengthen the hospital with other positions in medical, nursing, nutrition, cleaning and security areas, we will have 60 beds".
In two weeks the country's social security agency (CCSS) will publish details of the bid criteria for the land where the hospital will be built.
The search is for a 15 hectare site or bigger close to the center of Cartago province, south east of the Costa Rica capital, San Jose.
"The terms and conditions are now finished and it just remains to get legal sign-off," the architect Gabriela Murillo Jenkins, CCSS Infrastructure Manager, told Nacion.com. At the same time CCSS is carrying out studies to determine the profile of the hospital required.
