In 2018, 28 environmental impact studies were presented to build hospitals, clinics and other health care centers in the countries of the region, projects valued at $810 million.

The Guatemalan Social Security Institute announced that it plans to invest $390 million in the construction of eight hospitals in different areas of the country.

The Social Insurance Department in Guatemala is preparing a tender for the construction of the project "Health City", which includes the construction of four hospitals on 116 thousand square meters and which is valued at $459 million.
It is expected that in May the bidding process will start so that construction can start no later than October. This project involves the design and construction of four hospitals: pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology; medical, surgical and one for oncology and transplants. It is anticipated that construction will take about 3 years.
