The Cabinet Council approved an additional loan for the 2014 budget for road maintenance and renovation.
The Cabinet approved a resolution for expanding the budget line given to the Ministry of Public Works.

"The Cabinet Council approved by Resolution of the Cabinet an additional loan for the State Budget for fiscal year 2014 for the Ministry of Public Works for the sum of 32,510,827 balboas and 69 cents (thirty-two million five hundred ten thousand eight hundred twenty seven dollars and sixty nine cents).
The Ministry of Public Works is inviting bids for road maintenance works in the Province of Panama.

One of the most important activities for keeping the conditions of service of the streets, avenues and major roads in the country is repairing the damage suffered by roads, which require attention every year at the beginning of the dry season.
Contracts for $922 million were awarded to five companies for expanding and renovating 185 kilometers of the Inter American Highway.
The value of the works has exceeded the estimate made by the Ministry of Economy and Finance of $750 million. The construction company Norberto Odebrecht was awarded 71.24 kilometers from Santiago- Vigui. Its financial proposal was $339.5 million and the MOP's reference price was $352.8 million.
The Ministry of Public Works in Panama is putting out to tender the construction of a ring road at Facultad de Agronomía in the province of Chiriqui.

The Ministry of Public Works has announced the construction of a bridge to connect Avenida Santa Elena, the Cincuentenario way and the East Coast.
Jaime Ford, chief of the MOP disclosed the cost of the project during a presentation on road works to members of the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama. The official explained that they realized the need for this work after they finished the widening of the Cincuentenario road, which required $140 million.
The Panama Tourism Authority is putting out to tender the design and construction of the Via Costanera Highway.

As part of the Master Plan of Road Reorganization in Panama City, construction has began on the interconnection between Avenida Balboa and the new Avenida Los Poetas.

The National Assembly of Panama has approved a transfer of $34,059,053 million for starting to address the payment of road realignment projects.

Government officials have announced $50 million in projects at the districts of Guna Yala, Ngobe-Bugle and Embera.

In the districts of Guna Yala, Ngobe-Bugle and Embera, local authorities will undertake projects worth $50 million this year. They will be monitored by officials from the Ministry of Economy and Finance on a quarterly basis.
The Ministry of Public Works has put out to tender the resurfacing of streets and roads in various provinces as part of a "Paving Your City" Program.
According to the specifications of the tender, the works include paving or resurfacing highways or roads.
The project "Paving Your City" will be undertaken in the provinces of Bocas del Toro, Cocle, Colon, Chiriqui, Darien, Herrera, Los Santos, Panama and Veraguas.
