The contracts are for patching work, supervision, resurfacing of roads and main pathways, and bridge maintenance, among other things, on the national road network.

"The National Economic Council (CENA) has approved for the Colon Free Zone, an additional loan in the amount of 84 million 22 thousand Balboas for the purpose of adding to their budget and partially funding the expansion work of Avenida Ahmed Waked, Via Randolph and access to the city of Colon in the amount of 75 million and the 9 million 22 thousand balboas will be used to pay off a loan balance product of the Brady Bonds, said the Deputy Minister of Economy Gladys Cedeño.
A new environmental impact study is being carried out and available for citizens interested in finding out about the details of the extension of the Corridor.
Due to the complexity of the expansion project of the South Corridor, the National Environmental Authority has requested a new environmental impact study, rated as category III.
Although in November 2013 the National Highway Company presented an environmental impact study for the south corridor's expansion to six lanes, the National Environmental Authority (ANAM) has requested a new category III study. The new study received in early January shows no major changes compared to the previous one, the components of the project and the total cost of $509 million remain the same.

Out of three equal bids, the Costa Rican company Meco was awarded the contract for the construction of a road interchange at the former Howard military base.
The construction company beat its opponents Conalvías and Urban Construction SA (Cusa) in the final evaluation, after the three companies bid the same amount for the implementation of the project which will connect to the Centennial Bridge in the future.
$120 million for "financing costs" will be added to the charges resulting from contracts from the tender for the expansion of the Inter-American Highway in Panama.

Consorcio Ininco S.A. was the best qualified bidder in the tender for the works for improvement and expansion of the Amador Causeway.

The Ministry of Public Works today held the ceremony for opening the economic proposals for the best value tender for the study, design, partial financing, construction, improvement and extension of the causeway between Monumento a la Bandera and the Entry to Isla Flamenco.
President Martinelli requested to put out to tender, as soon as possible, the roadworks on Via España to connect it with the North and South corridors.
In addition to the stretch of road on Via España other interventions are planned for some of the avenues in the capital such as Samuel Lewis and the exit from the Costa del Este, as well as the construction of viaducts and overpasses.
