Anas International Enterprise, Mota-Engil Latin America and the consortium Autopistas de Guatemala submitted their proposals to renovate and manage the Escuintla - Puerto Quetzal highway.
The National Council of Partnerships for the Development of Economic Infrastructure (Anadie) received the economic offers yesterday for the "Renovation, Administration, Operation, Maintenance and Complementary Works of the Escuintla - Puerto Quetzal Highway with Toll Collection", and according to the authorities they expect to finish the hiring process in the month of July.
Following the government's termination of the contractual relationship with Brazil's Odebrecht, contracts for work on the three sections of the CA-2 highway have been awarded.
For the contract to "Reposition Road CA-02, section: km 211 + 500 to km 250 + 500", the companies Construcciones Integrales Avanzadas S.A. and Cesar Agusto Guzman Reyes submitted bids for $13 million and $11 million respectively.
The Ministry of Public Works in Panama is putting out to tender the renovation of 54 kilometers of streets and roads in the district of La Mesa, Veraguas province.

"The project consists of a length of 53.87 kilometers, however, the Bidding Entity may determine works that are detected as required within the execution of the field work, that have not been defined in the terms of reference and the plans, for Providing connectivity and comprehensiveness of road networks and / or accessibility to basic services, such as: Health centers, schools, production roads, etc.
For the second time the deadline for receipt of offers has been postponed in the tender for the renovation and administration of the Escuintla - Puerto Quetzal highway, this time until May 3.
The National Council of Partnerships for the Development of Economic Infrastructure reported that on March 13 it decided to postpone the date for receiving technical and economic offers from the pre-qualified companies for the project"Renovation, Administration, Operation, Maintenance and Complementary Works on the Escuintla - Puerto Quetzal Highway with Toll Collection",which is in the international public tender phase.
In Guatemala, engineering studies and the evaluation of the four-lane extension of the Atlantic highway for the El Progreso - Puerto Barrios section are being put out to tender.

"Contract for detailed engineering studies and technical, economic, environmental and risk assessment for the project: road extension to four lanes of the CA-09 North route, section: El Rancho, El Progreso - Mayuelas, Zacapa."
After multiple attempts to liquidate the contract and collect the bonds for the road works that were awarded to the Brazilian construction company, the Guatemalan government has finally received the money and will be able to tender the works again.
Representatives from the executive board announced that they have already received two bonds corresponding to the road works for 140 kilometers of the CA-2 highway, meaning that the path to bidding for new contracts is practically open.
A contract has been awarded to Constructora MECO for the design, construction and maintenance of works for the renovation of the Transístmica highway, section Plaza Agora - San Isidro Station.
The companies that took part in the tender for therenovation of a stretch of approximately 10 kilometerswere Constructora MECO, Sacyr Construcción, Constructora Urbana and Conalvias Construcciones, with offers of $88 million, $86 million, $87 million and $90 million, respectively.
Following the Brazilian construction company's abandonment of the road work contract that had been awarded, the government intends to make a claim on the advance payment and performance bails which amounts to $122 million.
The contract consisting of the extension of 140 kilometers of the CA-2 West highway was awarded to the construction company Odebrecht in 2012, however, the company abandoned the work after performing work on only 43 kilometers.
China Railway International Group and Constructora Urbana are the two companies that submitted their proposals in the tender to renovate 98 kilometers of roads in Chiriqui and Bocas del Toro, Panama.
The companies that submitted offers were Consorcio de Vías y Puentes del Istmo (China Railway International Group), with a proposal of$45.4 million, and Asociación Accidental C&C Gualaca (Constructora Urbana, S.A.), with an offer of$44.9 million.
The Ministry of Communications in Guatemala is putting out to tender recovery works on a stretch of 19 kilometers of the highway between Santa Catarina Mita and Los Horcones in El Progreso, in Jutiapa.

"The project consists in replacing the road from Santa Catarina Mita to Los Horconoes El Progreso, Jutiapa. The road section has an approximate length of 19 kilometers.
Although they have not finished liquidating the contracts with the Brazilian company Odebrecht, Guatemalan authorities say that the bids to conclude the works are going ahead.
The contracts that the Ministry of Communications intends to terminate early are those corresponding to the extension of 97 kilometers of the CA-2 West highway. To conclude these works, the institution is launching new tenders, for which there is time to participate up until February 23.
The controversy generated by the UNOPS's decision to prevent access to files on the road works for which it is responsible has led the government to refrain from granting new projects in the future.
Possibly as a result of the refusal of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) to make public the project files and the subsequent cancellation of contracts by the Comptroller General, the Ministry of Public Works has decided not to continue with the assistance of the international organization in future projects.
The Ministry of Communications in Guatemala is putting out to tender a technical, administrative and environmental project management service for the construction of the CA-9 North Highway, section Sanarate-El Rancho.

The Ministry of Public Works in Panama is putting out to tender the study, design and renovation of a road section in the province of Panamá Oeste.
