An analysis compiled by the Trade Intelligence unit at CentralAmericaData provides data on the companies that during the last year were awarded by the governments of the region, with contracts to execute construction works in Central American countries.
After PowerChina in Costa Rica won the contract to expand a section of highway in Guanacaste, one of the participating consortia appealed the results, arguing that the requirements had been modified in the tender.

In Guatemala, Renova Ingenieros S.A. will oversee the construction of the last part of a road in the departmental capital of Chimaltenango.
Renova Ingenieros S.A. was the only company to tender for the construction of the "libramiento cabecera departamental de Chimaltenango, Ruta CA01 Occidente" highway, with a proposal that totaled $10 million.
The work consists of the construction of a subsection of the beltway of the departmental capital of Chimaltenango. The construction will be adjusted to the existing subgrade and to the following pavement structure: stabilized sub-base (e=0.20m) with Portland cement, crushed base layer (e=0.25m), black base layer (e=0.10m) and a surface course of hot asphalt concrete (e=0.06m).
The Ministry of Public Works of Panama tenders the design and construction works for the restoration of the Pedasí-Los Asientos-Cañas Highway, in the province of Los Santos.

The Inter-American Development Bank approved a loan to finance the construction of infrastructure to reduce flooding and make urban improvements in the Juan Díaz River basin.
The Panama Mayor's Office informed that the resources will be used in three components. A first component of Flood Mitigation Infrastructure; a second component to improve the quality of public spaces; and a third component that will support the sustainability of the investments foreseen in components one and two, and the capacities of the Municipality of Panama to carry out the integral management of the basin during this program.
The CABEI granted the Honduran government a loan for the construction of a 5.3 km stretch of four lanes that will connect Tegucigalpa with the CA-5 South Highway.

The companies presenting their tenders were Constructora Meco, whose proposal totaled $69.9 million, Puentes y Calzadas Infraestructuras S.L.U., $70.9 million, and Constructora de Infraestructura Internacional, S.A., $74.3 million.
Banco Centroamericano de Integración Económica signed a loan contract with the FCC Consortium to finance the six-lane extension of the beach corridor in Panama, Section I: La Chorrera-Santa Cruz.
The project "Expansion to six lanes, Las Playas Corridor, Section 1: La Chorrera-Santa Cruz, which has an approximate length of 36.3 kilometers, and begins at the end of the Arraiján - La Chorrera highway and ends at the entrance to Santa Cruz (before the crossing over the Lagarto River)," was awarded in November 2017.
