A tender is being launched for a feasibility study to expand a 22-kilometer section of the El Litoral highway between the Zacatecoluca and Tecoluca municipalities to four lanes.
The Ministry of Public Works plans to extend the stretch from Zacatecoluca, La Paz, to San Marcos Lempa, San Vicente, to two lanes in each direction.
It has been announced that next week a tender will be published for the construction of two new lanes on the stretch of road between San Carlos and La Chorrera, west of the Panamanian capital.
The announcement was made by Panamanian President Juan Carlos Varela, and will serve to improve capacity on a route that has a length of about 70 kilometers.
An announcement has been made of the renovation of 130 kilometers of road and the start of analysis necessary to prepare the tender for the extension of 33 kilometers from the Concepcion-Volcan highway.

The Cabinet today announced the renovation of 130 kilometers of road in the districts of Renacimiento and Bugaba, Chiriqui province, as part of a development plan between local authorities and the Government.
The government plans to tender the expansion to six lanes of the Inter American Highway, between the districts of La Chorrera and San Carlos, in the province of Panama West.
President Varela explained that the first phase of the enlargement will on the stretch comprising the Bridge of the Americas to Arraiján, and that the tender must be made in the next 30 days.

President Varela has announced that in the coming days publication will be made of the conditions of the tender to expand to eight lanes Via Arraiján to the Bridge of the Americas.

The Ministry of Public Works has announced that in the first half of the year it will be putting out tenders for the construction of a road, a retaining wall in Bocas del Toro and expansion of roads in the capital.

During a session of the Cabinet Council held at the Center for Basic Education General IPT Marcos Alarcon Metetí, province of Darien, President Juan Carlos Varela Rodríguez announced the tender for the Agua Fria-Yaviza road and execution of projects with high community impact during 2015 worth approximately $81.4 million, with the aim of optimizing the fundamental basic services and integrating Darien province into national development.
Preparations are being made for the release of tender specification at the beginning of 2015 for the expansion to four lanes of a highway 9 kilometers north of the capital, in Las Cumbres.
The road which reduces the distance between the north and east of the capital needs to have its existing structure renovated as well as construction of two additional lanes to improve the flow of the 800 vehicles which pass along it during peak traffic hours.
A tender is being launched for the construction of three underpasses in high cargo traffic areas in the Metropolitan Area of San Salvador.
The projects already have the respective designs and refer to the Naciones Unidas and Masferrer roundabouts in the south and north ends of Jerusalem Avenue and at the intersection of highway and street Huizúcar Comalapa. The investment for the construction of three underpasses is around $25 million.
