The Municipality of Alajuela in Costa Rica is putting out to tender maintenance of a water storage tank in Guadalupe.
Located in the area of Guadalupe, the water storage tank supplies both the community of Guadalupe, and its neighbors in Canoas. This tank is protected by a perimeter fence made up of cyclone mesh and galvanized iron posts.
This enclosure structure, is generally in good condition, however, there are some holes that were made by people who were not part of the municipality who consistently cause damage to the site. This situation occurs mainly because of the geographical location in which the tank is located, which lends itself to the mesh being damaged and vandals entering the premises without being seen, because of the remoteness and isolation of the place. This represents a threat to municipal water users and the water supply, because of the potential for theft of metal structures, manipulation of valves and even possible contamination of the water that is stored there.
